Richard grins a bit mischievously at the nervous, blushing Airgetlam, “heh, she’s cute, I’ll give her that.” “Like I said he speaks so highly of you and so passionately, even when we were in Straylight together he often spoke of you, so proud, almost as if you were in a relationship, or perhaps more like a close relative. He never mentioned which though, so I figured I'd ask.” He then gently releases her hand, placing it upon her lap and wondering if it was special in some way, “How did she acquire such a thing…? And she can actually feel though it? Is it some kind of organic metal? I wonder if channeling protraction through it is possible...” but these were questions for another time, at the moment he turned his attention only to the beauty in front of him. “As an added plus…” He turned his gaze so he could look her in the eyes “… you look simply stunning when you blush.”
RD then turns and takes a bowl of the Noodle soup. He considers it carefully, vegetables, noodles, eggs and some meat, a simple meal, nothing too snazzy, but from just this simple dish he could tell the young man had some skill. Jian was easily better than him at cooking, RD considered asking the man for some tips, but now was not the time. “This isn’t half bad! Thank you very much!” He said after clumsily slurping up a few of the noodles and biting into a bit of the eggs within the broth. He wasn’t used to dishes like this, and is pretty bad at using chopsticks, but he was determined to make an attempt nonetheless.
After a bit of chewing he offhandedly mentions: “That tune you were humming while we were chatting was nice, where’d you hear it from?” He was mildly trying to chat up the man, and RD himself loves music, it always helped calm him, so he was hoping a common interest may help open at least a bit of communication between the two. “Oh and by the way, the doc was saying you may know someone who could help Clarent, any news?” He continues, honestly attempting to not only start a conversation with Jian, but find another way to help Clarent as well; If at all possible he didn’t really want to take on some ancient powerful vampire spirit possessing the body of an innocent, he would be hard pressed to kill someone the group seemed to have gone through so much effort to protect, but he would if he had to.
Richard then listened and watched a bit solemnly as the Doc climbed the stairs, most likely to attend to Clarent still sick in her bed. She didn't seem to be doing too hot when he occupied the room earlier while arguing with the good Doc, she didn't even stir although they were practically yelling right next to her. “If nothing changes soon, I’m not sure she’ll even recover at this rate Doc, so please consider it… Ya gonna feed her some of your meal? It’d be good to get something in ‘er; magical or not, she’ll need some kind of nutrition ta fight her sickness.” He took in more of the delicious food as he listened to his ol' bud Sharpe, attempting to consume it quickly, before it got cold.
After swallowing more of the meal RD paused and responded: “It’s definitely plausible… if the soul trap didn’t have a kind of enchantment or anything on it before it was possessed by this spirit; but assuming Clarent needs it, it definitely does. I mean she was wearing it before she got snatched, so she must’ve needed it right? So in any case, we’d have to figure out the enchantment on the trap and apply it to another soul trap… But if the soul gem actually was housing Clarent’s soul prior to her being possessed… well as you can guess that could be a bit difficult. We might be able to separate the two souls and cleanse the trap of the malicious spirit but that might be difficult as well… Same with shifting Clarent’s soul from this trap to another.” He mused aloud, he was no professional on soul traps but he had a pretty good knowledge of them from his travels in Soiyam, added to his own personal experience, unfortunately he had no idea if what he was saying is possible. “… unfortunately point-man all of that is just theory, I have no idea if it can actually be done. We can look into it but I don’t know how much time the lil’ lady has left.” He shrugged, honestly at a loss as to what other options were possible, and to a further extent, plausible to pursue, given the condition Clarent is in.
“As for the issue regarding this conspiracy out weighing the bounties, I figure we may even be able to collect info on the city at the same time, so it hopefully won’t be a problem as long as they don’t send us off to another country or something, I have a feeling your escapades at Castle Vikurr may have slowed their progress somewhat, should buy us some time to handle what needs to be done before they can make any serious moves. Someone’s gonna have to stay with Clarent though, and I honestly feel we should handle her situation first and foremost, would be a bad hit to mah conscience knowing she’s struggling and we’re off earning some pocket-change. Still if you wanna take care of it now, we can get started as soon as we’re done eating.”
RD then turns to jack “I’ve been known to do a bit of work here and there as a blacksmith, helps when ya need to do a bit of maintenance, or earn a bit of cash on the side.” He grins playfully. “I’ll take a look at it, if all it needs is some sharpening I should be able to get it done no problem.” He then turns back to Sharpe, “Want me to give yours the once-over as well?”
He then returns to chowing down, finishing his bowl by using both hands to take a long sip of the broth. “MMMM~ so good!” He has a huge grin on his face, first time in a while he's had such a fine dish.
