Airgetlam opens the book up, letting the pages flatter across. It's a rather slim diary and not all pages have writing on it. She catches a glimpse of a few sketches and sticky notes. After a bit of back and forth she flips to page one.
The writing on it is messy and the letters unreadable. In fact so unreadable that she doesn't realize at first that it's written in foreign symbols and letters. Only occasionally there are a few written words in common letters but most of it is nonsense to her. She flips a few pages, most of the same stuff untill quite a while in, a sketch of a circle with runes written into it. Underneeth in common writing is a label titled "Healing Spirit". And then a big paragraph of nonsense words, striked out and scribbled over as if it contained unwanted or false information. She flips a bit further, coming across sketches of skulls and bones. A few pages from that, an image comes loose and falls from the book, Airgetlam nimbly catching it in the air and flipping it back up to view it. It's a photo- in fact a very old one- of a mansion or castle perhaps. She recognizes it as the entrance hall they had all come in together, beautiful and clean as it was when they had entered. She reads the captioning on the photo; "ضحاک/ذهاک - Great Demon Dahaka".
She studies it further but can't see anyone or anything on the image so she sets it aside on a nearby desk and continues flicking through the pages.
Hitomi walks up to the desk and stretches, trying to reach the photo. She looks at it and studies it curiously, cocking her head. A lot more writing passes, followed by some empty pages with splatters of ink on them. Then suddenly more text, this time with a couple of readable letters forming words.
"Azidahaka.... Ahriman..." She reads out loud, running her fingers along the letters in thought. "Tool for world domination. Council of the Gods and Demons."
Briefly she looks up from the book, glimpsing across the room and then returning her attention back to the writing. A lot more random symbols and text that neither she nor anyone else here could possibly understand, followed by a big empty space with a box roughly sketched around a paragraph.
"Azi Dahaka." She begins to read out loud. "The three-mouthed, three-headded, six-eyed demon. It who possesses thousands of senses. The most powerful feral among the Druj. The one was created against the material world, to destroy the world of the good principle." Airgetlam frowns, her heart sinking a little at the image her mind had created reading this. She continues for a moment but can't seem to find anything interesting of note so far other than a folded piece of paper that slips by and falls to the ground. She picks it up, setting the book aside on her lap and opens it, reading the contents inside to herself.
The writings seem to be of a scientist or historian of sorts. It was written a good ten years ago by someone who had posession of this book and wrote some of the many notes scattered across. Fortunately his writing seemed to be less nonsensical and were understandable, if just as messy as the book itself.
It read; "From what I can take from this ancient diary, or should I say notebook- The Azidahaka is a strange demon that once was created to destroy mankind, without success. He was taken in by the god of all evil, Ahriman, and used as a tool for domination. The old world faded, and with this new world people don't seem to understand, came a lot of change. The daughter of a witch, turned vampire by one of the many magical diseases this world carries, was said to be the sole survivor of a slaughtering within castle Vikuur. She formed a pact with the demon Azidahaka who swallowed her soul and became a physical manifestation of evil, terrorizing the island-continent untill one day a group of adventurers destroyed her physical body. Only recently have I discovered the cult that plans to bring her back to life and the mistress herself has invited me to her castle to assist them in doing so. I'm both frightened and excited all alike. But who could refuse the calling of someone so powerful as her? I will be seeking the castle this week and do what I can to study this cult. Maybe they'll allow me to partake in their practices..."
Hitomi suddenly startles Airgetlam as she lets out a screetch of sorts, flinging the paper across the room and jumping into a corner opposite of it. The imposter-woman jumps- startled aswell as anyone in the room from the tension and walks over to the image, picking it up. Her eyes widen in disbelief as the photo now bears the demonic grin of a dragon-like snake with three heads and fangs and wings, burning. She can feel the warmth, almost as if the photo itself was burning her fingers. A little panicked she places the photo back on the book, and looks across the room, confirming that she was fine, for whatever reason. She moves back into a corner and crosses her arms lightly. Bending one wrist to look at her fingers. Blisters...
She tucks the hand away between her crossed arms and leans against the wall.
