Character / Player Application

What do you want to play, and how?

In order for this game to work out well I would like all the characters to work together as a group. In order for that all to work out and for the sake of filling out the story details I'll need everyone to discuss what kind of a character you all want to play and how you want to play them.

Everyone should be able to play what they like, but perhaps two or more people want to play similar characters or feel one character doesn't fit in or doesn't agree with the play-style of another player so in order to avoid any problems and build a set of characters that work well with one another we should work together as players to find out what everyone wants.

So here is what I personally have in mind, this isn't a must have but a preference I'd like to start out with:

- The characters know each other already.
This will get the introductions out of the way and establish a base level of trust between the characters. While conflict isn't entirely out of the question it's not good when everyone is constantly keeping an eye on everyone else worried that something will go wrong. That is to say, they don't have to know each other perfectly or be great friends. Like I said, a base level of trust needs to be there in order for them to stick together as a group.

- I'd like all the characters to have some synergy with one another, with everyone having something they're good at or bad at to give the group more meaning. This is not just to keep people sticking together but also for extra flavor.

- I would like every character to have at least a basic background story. In the past there have been characters with unfinished or no background at all that have made it hard for the players to relate or understand each character.

- Lastly, Every character must have a goal. Simple as that. Something that is incredibly important to them that the story can capitalize on.



Please make a response below telling me what kind of character you are looking to play. What they're like, what you want them to be able to do and their role in life as well as a brief background. This is a requirement to play the game and I won't be able to start fleshing out the story without this information.

I personally tend to think tactically. In combat, I usually attempt some kind of support for the team. That usually means Battlefield Control (tanking/crowd control), buffs, heals, tactical damage. In that order of preference.

Socially, I have a strong personality, and ability to think outside the box, which means I get relegated to the leader most of the time. I would actually prefer to play the Adviser, Second in command, or similar, where I can have a heavy hand in conversations, planning, and action, but ultimately someone else makes the call, and can flat out tell me to back off if I get too heavy handed.

I really want to play, but with my life being what it is, I can't promise to check the site on the weekends. I can commit to a Mon-Fri check, if that's acceptable. If it is not, I completely understand.

Within the above parameters, I'll pretty much play whatever role is needed. I don't have a specific character, or even character concept in mind, so if anyone else has something they just -really- want to play, I can fill gaps.

Finally, I would really like to play a truly heroic, or at least purposed game. The gun-for-hire mercenary style group of characters isn't really all that fun to me. If someone wants to play a gun-for-hire type -character- that has joined with us long term for a specific goal, that's fine, but I'm not really interested in the "everyone picks up whatever bounty they want" way of playing. (If we decide to take bounties as a group, work them as a group, and turn them in as a group, I can handle that. It's still not ideal, but it'll work.)

One other thing. I REALLY want someone to be the in game, official leader of the group. As I said before I'd rather it not be me, but I -can- do that role if needed. Someone needs to have the permission of the players (out of game) to forcibly herd the cats (in game) if necessary.

Yeah, this is what I'm aiming for this time around. The bounties were supposed to be for every area to make a bit of money on the side and get an idea of whats going on in each city but we never got far out of Recudor initially. They will still be around but not be nearly as much of a main focus.

The idea I have is for a group to travel from place to place on their way to a specific goal relating to the first story-arc. on the way there they will face challenges and encounters similar to a classic D&D game that slowly develop into bigger themes with more mechanics and encounters.

This would be a good idea. It will help people get a sense of direction. The leader doesn't necessarily have to be a fancy say-so character but more of a shot caller who helps direct the group when they're lost like you suggested.

Thought i would throw my two cents in. I am ok with some of our characters knowing each some of the other characters, but I don't think that all of them should know each other. Each of our characters are going to be coming from distant places, the world is a big place after all. Just doesn't seem likely to me.

I don't really think we need a "Leader" for our group. I think what we had in the last one was good. We had people who would take charge but no one was the leader.

I think, and I want, the point of this to be that we've -already- been together for a bit. Maybe not long, but long enough to have already worked out the kinks of why we're staying together.

That was great, and the way I would prefer it to go, when it went that way, but on the rare-ish occasion that there's a hard split in the preferences of the group, there needs to be some kind of in game way to make the choice. A good leader wouldn't be the bully of the group, they would be the one that encourages discussion, compromise, and at the end if -all- else fails, make the call. If you have a suggestion on how to accomplish that without a designated leader, I'm definitely interested in the options.

I understand the point you're making and that's mainly the reason why I wanted this discussion among all players. However it doesn't seem far fetched for them to have at the very least met at some point before, and gained some base-line of trust.

Using this character you mentioned to me on steam; A monk who just recently came out of a monastery. If you look into how monk societies and monasteries work in today's society it's not very far off. In fact in some cases like the modern shaolin monks they are just as much business men with a social life as they are monks with strict discipline and schedules. It's far from unheard of for a monk to have contact to the outside word unless the monastery in question specifically cuts off all such contact and practices a more recluse life-style which would be pretty unheard of. Correct me if i'm wrong on that.

Anyway I still understand the point you're getting at, and that is why I want people to discuss what kind of characters they want to play.

I know you have a character made already but for the sake of continuity perhaps you could write down what kind of a character you want to play and how?

Shaolin Monks even travel in pairs and are told to see how different countries work and look. I remember seeing quite a lot two years ago in summer, discovering Germany. Speaking to some, it turns out that it's part of what they -have- to do.

So yeah, monks not only are in touch, but experience the world outside quite a lot, in many different ways.

Anyhow uhm. As for me, I would like to play out an RP that maybe has all main characters know eachother, or at least have heard of eachother. If not, write a background before the play kicks off on how they encountered and what their standings and opinions are. It was a bit... meh, if I can say it like that, to have to think of how to encounter a character and moreso, how to make it look natural.

I mean, sure, if a new player comes on board, I am all for something like an encounter, but for those starting out, not so much.

Debateable, but not not bad of an idea. Though, I personally think that this will be a bit more contextual on what kind of play we're going to have. Setting and the likes play a big role on if something like that is required.

I personally, well, I don't really mind if there's a leader or not, I just want to avoid powerplay or them neglecting one player and putting too much attention on the other. (Also could be contextual, but I am sure you get what I mean.)

Character I would like to play? Well. I love crafty kinds, hands were made to build or fix things, or just create. While I also like to have the combat kind, that'd be the second focus I'd go for. But for the most bit, if there's a way to make it happen, I want a character that helps by building, creating, expanding, you know, the good stuff.

Maybe have something to tinker with too, a weaponsmith, the somewhat bonkars type, the possibilities are endless. I mean there's a gollum-esque character in Mad Max that turns the car he builds into a war-machine, so yeah, that really reinforces my thoughts on that.

Only issue is. Materials, crafting, how does one make it possible to implement that in a way where it's fair and maybe easy to keep track of? There could be certain skills, location and tool modifiers that then generate the amount gathered/success of something, and maybe then have that determine how long the character is out of play for that time.

Now that's a bit of a heavy way to do it though, but it's possible. Playing Sanctuary RPG: Black Edition made me think of that. (That, and milking ghosts in random encounters.)

I would suggest that if a character is designed specifically around their craft (aka Ironman or similar) they be able to just -do- it. The same way that a magic user can just -do- magic. I think it unfair that one would have to go through all the effort of finding materials and being out of game for a given amount of time and all where the other doesn't.

That said, I think for both if they want to do something -completely- new (new machine, new spell type) then the crafting thereof should be along the lines of the "study" system that Yuki introduced at the very end of this last setup, with the caveat that if the crafter has to buy material, then the spellcaster should have to buy reagents or similar.

Okay so I got these two brand new shiny pennies imma throw into this.

To be honest, being used to more open ended RPs, I actually didn't mind our previous setup, I know this doesn't help much since you want a change, but I feel like characters don't need to hold hands and skip down the street. Having characters break away and develop individually isn't necessarily a bad thing, sure it may slow things down a bit or make the forums a bit messy with sub threads, but if it's handled properly it can do a great job developing motivations for characters. This may be a shitty thing to say, but one thing I noticed that may have been kind of an issue in the last RP was a couple people having a genuine lack of interest in actually RPing. I noticed it mostly with Blake and Air, I practically had to drag Air around kicking and screaming just to explore one of the first areas my character was thrown into. I know people wanna get to the action and/or main focus of the story, but the adventure is so much more worth it to me. As far as the idea of a leader, I'm not a huge fan of it. Having a leader might create a power struggle among characters, and if one or more people don't agree with the direction the leader wants to take things in then you start getting drama, which is fine IN character, but that kinda drama extends to OOC really quick. Having someone point people in the right direction is fine, but if you make everyone else feel shackled, things will get out of hand. Plus you will most likely have people being pulled away from any secrets or surprises you may have planned out in the RP.

As far as what I personally like out of the RP, I just don't wanna feel too restrained. My favorite part of an RP is the creativity and character development. I actually have 2 seperate characters in mind for this run, and will probably try to think up another by the time the RP comes around. The first of which was going to be a monk, but seeing as people seem to be jumping all over that, I'll probably either default to my second, or think up a third instead. I do think character backstory is very important, and there shouldn't be any 'character doesn't remember' type backstories. If your character has amnesia that's fine, but you can write an OOC backstory, or a third person perspective backstory.

Yeah I understand that. That's both a personal thing and partially my fault. I don't think a lot of people found the story very engaging at first. I jumped the gun on the initial castle quest-line and while people seemed to enjoy it I don't think they got to learn enough about the world to work their characters properly. After that the lack of direction and motivation from a few people slowed down the game tremendously. To be entirely honest Blake and Saint were very motivated but I feel as though there were completely different reasons behind that at the time instead of being so much interested in the game itself and the idea of roleplaying. I often had to remind them or even outright tell them to go post and they tended to get very unfairly annoyed with me doing my job. Ontop of that I don't think Airgetlam had any real personality. She was a stealth based character who only twice ever snuck around to do anything. She rarely ever took any initiative as a character who should naturally be good at that kind of thing and she had no curiosity to investigate anything I would throw at her. I saw a lot of problems with that with Jack and Jian as well. Both had very specific skills that neither took a lot of advantage of and neither player had any direction as to where their player was going and what they were wanting to do until the very end of the game at which case some of the members dropped out without giving any notice of it.

So all and all I think that all came together and between the lack of direction, characters being unwilling to communicate or trust each other and the poor story advancement on my end ontop of some of the npc's overshadowing the players it made for a very poor progression and slow storytelling.

That being said don't think I'm putting blame on people. There is no issue here I'm just stating it how it is and thats not really a big deal. Like I said most of it is because of the story. I'm still an amateur at GMing so its not super easy to set up at times. I think I've come a long way since then so things on my end will change for the better, for sure.

I want the game to be as free of restraints as possible. That's why there's no dice rolls or heavy rules about mechanics except for specific things. I want everyone to be able to play what they want the way they want it which is why I started this topic to begin with.

So to address the topic of everyone knowing each other. Yeah I don't think its 100% necessary or always possible for everyone to know each other. But that's why we're discussing it here. Write down the characters you want to play with their basic background and stuff and we'll go over if it will work or if it wont work and why, as well as suggestions on how to make it work if possible.

When it comes down to it all I want is for the game to be a bit smoother. I don't want people's characters to sit on their butts in a room all day discussing basically nothing at all like I would see happening in the past. There is only so much I can do with story telling and initially I tried to force events to get the group moving and drag them in to a direction but i've come to accept that a lot of it is based on player initiative. Now that we're starting over I am hopeful that the new game will come with new found initiative. If people are out and about doing things I don't believe we need a leader. I think DelaKayte and Doc put it best; I don't really think we need a "Leader" for our group. I think what we had in the last one was good. We had people who would take charge but no one was the leader.

This is basically what im going for. Even if the person isn't designated a literall "Leader" they're still the person who calls the shots or motivates the group to get going. That's all im asking.

Nobody is jumping all over that. I was just bringing it up as an example because that was the example initially brought up to me. It's not a bad thing and again I don't think its impossible for some characters not to know each other. I just want there to be a more easily established line of trust that binds the characters together. Be that -after- any form of potential tutorial / intro or -before-. I just don't want the tension from the previous game where the group is split up into cliques that favor each other and look twice at everyone else in the party just incase something could happen. I understand there will be characters like that that don't trust others easily but it's not too much to ask for someone to be at least thankful for not immediately getting attacked by a stranger in the wild or something similar.

Oh ok, I'm sorry, that's my bad, I misread something along the way and thought you were talking to Doc about a monk character in more literal terms, plus I'm pretty surer RD wants to make a monk character which is why I started backing away from mine in the first place...plus he was going to be kind of a strange character that would be difficult to work with in a few different ways. Mostly due to him being a bloodthirsty killer...and not exactly human... <_< so I figured falling back to my backup character would flow better with the RP. But yeah I do get what you're saying, and as long as it's just a guiding hand it should be fine. I was just kinda worried about being rushed through areas that are meant to be explored, and not being able to harass NPCs for dialogue and whatnot xD

I understand. I'm glad we're on the same page about that now.

And yeah I always encourage exploration and investigation. In the other game there were well over 30 secrets and a few alternate routes for every quest but for the most case unless I had an NPC point at it or sprinkled golden flakes over it, it didn't seem all too interesting for most players. I'd still like for these to be a thing but im going to cut down just a little bit on any alternate or extra stuff in favor of being more objective. So basically people will still be able to explore, there will still be great rewards for taking the time to check around and fiddle with practically everything but there won't be quite as much of it as before in order not to overwhelm everyone.



So with that being cleared up, continuing on with the original reason for the topic;
What are these characters you had in mind? What would you like to see yourself playing? What's the fantasy you want to fulfill. It'd be good for everyone to know what everyone is going for so people can coordinate a little better, like in the case of you backing off monk in order to allow RD to mess around with the idea some more. This way we will be able to make every character truly unique and ensure you all get to play what you want to play.

So, just a thing in my head. A group of monks (and their companions if you don't actually want to -be- a monk) out to experience the world would be a wonderful start to an adventure IMO. Especially if we took the time to create some background to our order and maybe even a caste system that would let us each play a different kind of monk.

It would also kindof solve the "herding cats" problem as learning to work together in harmony would be part of the purpose of the travelling. *wise monk voice: A braided rope is stronger than 3 strands separated.*

Wanted to add the basic concept in my head. We create an order of monks, (Order of wonder, order of life, order of the flying spaghetti monster, order of [insert whatever hugely vague concept here]) with a basic agreement of the vague and large philosophy. Then each of us builds a caste around the type of character they want to play.

So, for example, I want to play a somewhat tank/controller type of character. So, in the example of the "Order of Wonder" I could be a member of the "Mirage" Caste, and use things that alter the perception of my enemies to encourage them to attack me instead of you guys, out of combat I would focus on "seeing past the mirage" (Manipulation of social interaction in order to get the most "truthful" result. Likely used most often in barter, and investigation/interrogation).

This character concept isn't fleshed out at all, but it's a basic idea of what I'm suggesting.

Ok I am going to post my idea for my character.

Raymondo is from a long family of demon hunters. Do to something in his past, he doesn't trust living people. So how does he get work? well he uses his ability to talk to the dead, be it ghost, wondering spirit, zombie or ghoul, he can not only understand them but can communicate with them. Once he has a job, he will go to other spirits or undead beings to get info. He also knows some necromancy so he can raise the dead to talk to them.

He has been trained to fight the parallels of the underworld and the undead with his fathers scythe. The blade has been infused with special materials so that the blade may cut through the flesh of any demon. He also has has the ability to control fire however he can not create it, so he has a trained elemental creature that is able to create and use fire. He can use its flames and when they aren't enough, he has his family's most valuable item, the lantern. His lantern has a blue flame that will never go out do to it being a flame from hell.

Do to his upbringing, Raymondo is rather cocky and believes he knows best when it comes to his field. He is rather distant to people but he is willing to help them if he believes that they are in danger. It takes a bit for him to trust someone but once he does, he will do anything to help his new friend and if they ever need him, he will do anything in is power to help.

Okay, sorry for just now getting back to this, but it was a bit of a busy weekend. As far as my character's idea goes, I'm not sure how much you'd like this, since I'd have to kinda throw a major building/event into the setting in order to make his backstory/character as a whole work, but here's a quick rundown of my ideas so far.

What I was hoping to make, was a gladiator, which is where the building/events would come in. Obviously he'd need a colosseum to perform in, and I'm not sure if the idea of a gladiator falls in line with your RP setting. My thinking was that the colosseum would be stationed in Global as kind of a past time for the snooty rich peoples. By the end of the backstory it ends up getting demolished anyway so it wouldn't be a permanent thing, and it would have mages in the background healing the losers, so it wouldn't be killing off random nobodies everyday. As for the character himself, I was going to go for an older, slightly muscular guy who can easily hold his own in a fight, but due to being a veteran gladiator who knows how to work a croud also has fairly high social stats. Of course he needs some shortcomings, which would be arcana since he's more brawn than brains, and stealth, since he likes to soak up attention. He would be proficient in using a lot of weapons you'd find in a colosseum, like shields, short swords, spears, hammers, greatswords, stuff like that. Obviously more foreign weapons like katanas, schimitars, bolas, and the like would be a mystery to him. Also aiming for a more comical personality on him, the type of guy making all the noise in the middle of the party.

That's some of the stuff I got so far, if there's anything that anyone's not a fan of, lemme know, and if you don't think the character would really fit, don't be afraid to veto him, I can start working on something else if it helps things flow better.

For Doc: I really enjoy characters like that. They have always fascinated me and I think the characters lore can potentially be very rich in content. My only concern is how he would work in a group? Obviously I can come up with story reasons as to why he would be travelling from place to place but what reason does he have to stick with any of the other player's characters? Maybe we can work something out together.


For OPG: I actually really like the idea. I have no problem putting something like that in the game especially not for a good background like that. The concept is great and it gives a good, reasonable, background as to why he can do the things he can do and how he has acquired his skills. There is only a tiny issue, and I guarantee it is only a tiny one. A Colosseum is usually very grand. A massive building much bigger than a football stadium. It would seem a little too big for smaller events. Are you sure you want to go with something so grand in design? Perhaps an Arena would be more fitting since its usually a little smaller. Enough room for a crowd to fight if necessary and well suited for 1on1 or 2on2 combat. Either which way would work fine and I won't have any problems implementing it for you.

I'm kinda liking the monk idea that I posted as an example, regardless of what others play, but it's a very loose form thought right now. I have a few other loose form thoughts as well, but I'm kinda holding back on committing to any of them till I see what the rest of the group has in mind. I want to make sure I fit well.


@Doc: I love the idea behind the character, but I'm with Yuki on the "doesn't get along with the living" thing. That just seems like in group drama waiting to happen. Not saying you can't or shouldn't do it, just would prefer you already have whatever in-game reason to be with the group before we even begin.

I was answering some questions for doc regarding how some of the finer mechanics work (which i will be posting about in future updates) but from what I can tell now the character should work just fine. With the idea im currently working out for the game's beginning and his characters background he would have enough reason to stick with the group especially if, as doc described, through some way or another his character ends up owing someone some kind of debt. Not sure how that will work out specifically but it seems that the character has enough trust in the living so to speak as to get along with people who share his goals and ideals. At least given how I understand it.

This gladiator character OPG is considering making would tie in well with the pieces im putting together so far. Without spoiling much i'll try to give you an understanding of what I have in mind;
The moreau family, a prestegious family of highly talented magic users, had finished construction on a tower shortly after the most recent events in the old RP. The moreau magi tower acts as both a research facility and an academy of sorts, where talented people can take up residence in the massive tower to study and research different kinds of magic and try and advance what magic is currently capeable of doing as well as look in to new kinds of magic. 3 years later is where the current story takes place and the moreau family has opened another building for more or less much of the same, except toning down the research in favor of teaching more common people how to utilize magic better and more efficiently (or at all for that matter).

tl;dr The family has a big impact on life on the continent and they're a big deal. the new academy will be opened with a fancy ceremony and somewhat of a celebration.

I was thinking about how to implement this since the original game had a similar opening, with a harvest festival. I don't necessarily like the idea of starting out in a similar fashion as before, as I strongly believe in variety, however it simply makes the most sense. There would be a tournament for fighters and mages (split into each respective category), an opening ceremony and a small festival. This would attract all kinds of people. People curious in magic. people wanting to check out whats going on. thieves trying to take advantage of the masses. thrill-seekers trying to sate their curiosity, etc etc. both OPG and Doc's characters would have their own valid reasons to show up, what with the arena/colosseum being shut down and there being a fighting tournament, as well as there being plenty of information and work to find about some odd-jobs here and there.

Obviously the story will go from there and build towards one of the various routes i'm planning, with the group moving from place to place pursuing their main objective whilst trying to solve quests and issues here and there.



I know Delakayte is pretty open when it comes to character creation, so I would like to hear more from producer and RD as to what kind of characters you would like to play? Some more detail specifically would be nice.

Spent some time talking to Yuki and got an idea for a character pretty well defined.

Atsuko Samhradháin

She's a warrior, and potential warchief from a tribe in the northlands. Her training is complete, and she has been sent out to explore the world; gain experience and knowledge that will help her be a good chief. She is looking for adventure, and relations with people of different cultures in order to broaden her horizons.

This particular tribe practices a form of Hex magic that turns the person into a walking spellweave. Using a blend of special inks and extract of the Vyhablwm (Viha bloom) plant, one goes through a very long, very painful form of tattooing/chemical branding which gives them various magical abilities depending on the tattoo. The tattoos are very large, so the number of abilities are limited and therefore selected carefully. 

Her body is almost completely covered with tattoos, ordinary ones combining and blending the magical ones into a mesmerizing tapestry. Outside of the abilities her tattoos give her, she is an ordinary human. A highly trained one, but nothing else.


Tattoos:


Head: Permanent Makeup, chaotic spirals that vaguely resemble various emotional faces on her scalp hidden by hair
Effect: Minor manipulation of attitude. Socially used to make someone more or less friendly by a small step. Combat used to encourage or discourage an attacker's focus.

Right Arm: Ash tree with Vyhablwm vine overlay. The thorns from the vine are morphed into thorn shaped metal blades that appear to be pricking her skin.
Effect: Allows the summoning of a spear made of energy. The spear is indestructible, however if removed from touching her in some way, disappears immediately and must be re-summoned.


Left Arm: An elemental storm with rain, ice, fire, lightning, beams of light, and shafts of darkness falling from the sky
Effect: Allows elemental damage to be applied to the spear. (One type at a time)

Upper Back: A white winter mountain landscape, with a winged ouroboros circling a triskelion as a transparent overlay.
Effect: Increased Speed, Strength, and Dexterity (No mechanical advantage. Outside of storytelling, this tattoo actually does nothing)

Lower Back: A skeletal tree, looking like a cross between bone and steel, seeming to hold the above image in its branches.
Effect: Allows summoning of a force-field of energy matching that of the spear, acting as weightless armor (not indestructible, weapons and attacks can penetrate as they would any heavy armor, the field just repairs itself if punctured)

Torso Front: A weaving of ribbon or sash around multiple images of people, surrounded by a fog that obscures the edges
Effect: When activated, illusions of herself create a cluster of duplicate images around her any time she moves. This makes finding her precise position somewhat difficult and is generally confusing to any observer, friend or foe.

Left Thigh/Right Thigh: (same tattoo twice for doubled effect) The roots from the lower back tree bloom full of life, down and around her legs into a pond full of fish in her lap, some resembling dragons, others simple fish such as koi. Dragonflies, frogs and other creatures are also represented in the "fountain of life"
Effect: Significant healing factor. (Not enough to heal mid battle, but minor wounds heal in a day, major ones in a few days)

Left Calf: Blank
Effect: None

Right Calf: Blank
Effect: None

So yeah, got everything but the backstory and loadout done for now, those will (probably) be done later this weekend. Took some tinkering to get his stats the way I wanted, but I think he's almost ready to go. <_< Also, it comes with free dumb jokes...they are dumb...

DelaKayte: Sorry if this kinda comes across the wrong way, but I was checking out your character, and for the most part I think she's pretty cool. the idea of magic tattoos is pretty awesome. The thing I can't quite wrap my head around is why does she have no stat in her arcana? She's seems very heavily based in magic with her abilities to summon spears, and imbue them with elements.

Hat/Visor (never removed unless necessary) Gift from his mentor, enchanted. When used in conjunction with his unusually wide collar allows him to conceal his presence somewhat. (will define the extent with a comparison later)

Knuckles: Slightly heavier than they look, can inflict not only attacks with massive impact, but puncture damage depending on whether the attack thrown is as hook or a jab. Can be used in conjunction with...

Ring #1 (Right hand, ring finger): One of his greatest finds and most prized possessions, he never takes it off. The ring is an enchanted artifact it appears to be a simple band, but if examined blue lightning can be clearly seen coursing through it. Can be tapped into to provide a limited charge of voltage to the user to be used however they wish. Enough to render a person unconscious or blast a hole through stone... when used by one w/o a connection to arcana, said to possess many more abilities when properly utilized by one blessed with arcana.

Totem: Could be used for boppin foo's, sure... Rauj uses the item in a slightly different way. When in contact with the ground the sacred item creates a kind of 'battle field' for him, allowing him to move even faster within it, it also creates a barrier which can deflect most non-physical attacks. If someone Rauj considers an enemy is caught within the field, attempting to leave it will drain them of their strength for a few moments, like getting the wind knocked out of them. Field is about the size of a UFC cage, rounded dome over the top of it.

Belt: Possesses small inner pockets where he keeps various tools of the trade: (enchant-able lock-pick[s] for those magic infused locks, Shuko+Ashiko [claws for climbing walls hands and feet respectively], powders for smoke + flash bombs),

Boots: comfortably hides small daggers within.

Background story: TBD... Though at the moment i want this character to be a rogue thief with a bit of kleptomania. His main reasoning for being in the area is to investigate certain... concerns about the recent actions of the moreau family. At least that's what he's been hired for. He has his own personal reasons for his involvement with the moreau, mostly treasure and arcane secrets he could use to further his own position in life, along with one other major goal that when asked he has nothing to say but, "Doesn't involve ya. Nuttin' Personal." (Note: after he begins to the trust the group more, he'll speak up.)

Appearance:

Light-weight Leathers made to improve maneuverability as much as possible. Hide/Scale mesh boots for a combination of breath-ability, durability, and flexibility. Spiked knuckles are his main weapons and he wears them out in the open as a kind of warning, along with the rather large totem on his back.
Traits:

Negatives:

• Already knows what you've got, where it is and how much of it you're actually carrying.

She's not magically active, at all. Her tattoos are the equivalent of a protraction gun, or magic sword. They're tools.

Edited to add this: Spiked, your character and mine paired will just ruin a melee attacker :D
