Night #1 - "Jians Dream"

Jian finds himself in an abstract place. Shadows obscure the dancing vibrant lights but slowly everything fades into dark stone walls. A purple carpet is laid out before him, it rolls off into the distance. Before him the empty space transforms into stone corridors with only darkness obscuring his view to the sky. An eerie purple glow surrounds the dim lights on the wall and in the distance Jian can barely make out the faint features of a white silhouette. A freezing breeze is flowing through the shadow clad corridor and Jian feels a slight tug pulling him forward ever so gently. Behind him he can hear the breathing and sighing of something watching him, but when he turns back there is nothing but a solid brick wall with scratches on it. Down the path a paper can be seen lying down on the purple carpet. A photo of his family - the one he took from his home. A faint bit of laughter echoes through the hallway, sending a chill down his spine and the silhouette in the distance seems to turn and walk away from him.

Jian begins to walk down the hallway towards the picture on the carpet to pick it up. He takes a look at it for several minutes and looks back down the hallway. The silhouette just keeps walking away and he somehow feels the need to follow. He then starts walking down the carpet again, turning around now and then to see what's behind him.

As Jian turns around to face what lies behind him the brick wall moves forward- no. The hallway becomes smaller... The wall barely stops abruptly, a quarter of a mans width in front of him. Behind him the hallway shakes and draws itself longer. faint laughter can be heard again and suddenly the paper in Jians hand becomes hot. One by one the faces of his family members seem to burn off the page, leaving only charred blackness in their stead. His brothers face turns into an avatar of a demon, perhaps as a metaphor for his inner feelings. The picture burns up in his hand and the floor under Jian gives way. Parts of the floor crumble and give way to darkness, bits falling and others dissapearing. He is left with only the carpet, which stays suspended in space. A crush edges the hallway closer together and a piercing sound is thrown across the echoing hall. Slowly the walls seem to dissolve and turn to liquid, crashing down into the darkness below, leaving only the stars of the night sky all around Jian. Further down along the carpet are now the silhouettes of two children, one hunched over the other standing above it protectively. Laughs and screams and crying echo all around Jian but not in a painful way.

As everything dissolved jian stands there, watching the picture burn away. His confusion grows bigger as he hears the laughing and screaming and crying that achoes around. He watches the silhouettes doing what they are doing and eagerly waits to see what's next. He also seems to understand that this is mostly related to his past. He's looking around to make sure nothing else is there to see or to notice, but there really only is the starry sky, the silhouettes and the carpet reaching down into the infinite.

The two silhouettes turn and face Jian. In a flash they disappear, replaced with another silhouette with feminine features. It moves closer to Jian and extends its hand but is interrupted by another flash. Suddenly the being is replaced with yet another silhouette, smaller but with more manly features. Jian recognizes it as himself. He feels a sudden dizziness as his counterpart bends over in pain. Blinding white wings burst out from its back and it begins to levitate upwards. In an intense crash, everything is consumed by white fires.

Jian wakes up in a cold sweat, his head pounding lightly. A woman in white and blue robes is leaning over him, her hand on his forehead. "Feeling better now? You seemed to have a nightmare so I thought I'd help out..." It is hard for him to make out who the person is as his vision fades into blurs repeatedly. "You should rest fine now..." he hears her say and slips back into his slumber.
