Hey,
So initially I didn't think something like this would work well or even be necessary (at first.) but I've noticed that sometimes it's difficult for people to figure out which side quest they are posting in and sometimes in the past the side quests would change based on what area the group would find themselves in (usually with some intermission in between). In any case, I remember in the past seeing a lot of other RP Forums divide their game into instances, for example; "Recudor Southern District" or "Recudor Home" or "Recudor Northern District" etc. etc.
I thought it wouldn't really have any use since normally the group would be together so they would always be in the same area, but it turns out I was wrong and the group often likes to not only change areas but also split up and do things in smaller groups or solo. Which isn't always a bad thing, but not always a good thing either!
Given that, I figured maybe it would make it easier if the game were divided into Areas instead of Side quests specifically. That way players could change their characters from one area to another without having to enter some specific side quest only for them.
As an example; Sharpe had gone off on his own to follow the clues he and Lox had been given the night prior. Meanwhile Doc went to the house. I had to put both in their own respective instances with their own side quests, but eventually they met up so I merged their quests in a third separate side quest. Then RD rushed home which meant I had to also add him to that very same sidequest since it took place at the recudor home, but then the group followed so I had to take that side quest and merge it with the main quest. It was pretty messy, and some people got thoroughly confused on where who was going and who was posting what. As well, it left pretty much no room for the group to split up if someone else had wanted to.
Instead what could have happened is the players would have moved their characters from say, Recudor Southern District to Recudor Home, and regardless of what quest they were in or if they had other plans they would be able to move around freely without the need of being in a specific side quest for it.
Does that make any sense?
What are your thoughts on it? Do you think this should be something to consider implementing or do you think we will be just fine without it?
Feel free to reply in this topic, and I will also add a Poll to this so you can vote on it, too, if you would like.
