    1. Awakening of Gaea

It is said that in ancient times long gone the balance in the world shifted. The two keepers of the world sent astray the path of peace. The Light, represented by the Sun and Life, pushed back the Dark, born from the Moon and all Evil in the world. So far back in fact that dark had seized to exist. Or so it seemed at first. For without Dark there cannot be Light, and so it nestled deep within the heart of human and animal alike. Great destruction then befell the world as every being sought out the chaos and pandemonium their hearts called out for.

It is unknown for sure how much of this is reality and how much can be written off as mere fiction, but one thing is for certain; The children of humanity were set onto the path of resuscitation, finding themselves in a new and unknown world with no knowledge of the things around them.

But they were not the first to reawaken from their slumber. Other things had also returned from their absence since. Landscapes, Mountains, Valleys, Trees, Grass, Flowers, Fish, Birds, Insects and foremost, the harsh and unforgiving Elements. All things returned over time, in one form or another. And even some newer beings sprung forth from the wide variety of humans who had their own differences still. Fairies, Vampires, Centaurs, Harpies, Lamia and even Dragons. Many new races had found their way to what little land seemed like the whole world at first.

With time, each family of creatures had established their own ways of living in their own little piece of the world. Though most resourceful remained the humans, who quickly grew into masses upon masses of unique personalities and beliefs as their cultures expanded as far as the horizon.

    2. The Barbaric Tundra

Given a fresh start the children of humanity began to build society anew. Primitive at first, with only a few tribes, hunting, slaughtering and warring. Each passing year the tribes grew, and each passing year fueled the curiosity that drove mankind to adventure and expansion and the discovery of many wonders.

In the early beginnings of the land there were five major bands of tribes, consisting of smaller communities that all worked as one single part of their own. The differences in race, beliefs, social systems and resources caused great jealousy and mistrust between the tribes. War and raiding was an every-day part of life for humanity as each fought for their survival in the cold harsh snowy wastes of the world. Many years would pass before the continuous warring would come to an end.

Eventually the constant wars had raged on for so long, a stalemate was reached. Occasional disputes would still occur, but the tribes lacked the resources to survive, let alone challenge another to war. Many more years later one of the five tribes would finally succumb to the terrifying living conditions and die out, with the few of its surviving members scattering across the other tribes seeking refuge and a new community to belong to.

    3. The Four Archmages

Though only slightly more sophisticated, the four surviving tribes had built villages and farms and safe-havens all throughout the continent and formed clans between families to control and protect their lands. Over the course of the years gone by the desolate snowy landscapes had slowly begone to give way to the luscious greens the land had to offer. The trees were less brittle and full of life, the grass and vegetation all around had sprung to vitality and the rivers had started flowing freely once more. Each tribe had settled in their own part of the land and tended to their own lifestyles, worrisome and ready should war come again for those who remained. Very many seasons passed with old age primitive tools and difficult to control fires and the flowing water acting as the only tools to humankind. That is until the day they found the art of Protraction.

From a very young age four incredibly talented young people from each of the four tribes had felt different from the rest. They felt in tune with the world, with nature; the sky, the water, the fire, and the earth. They could feel the flow of life around them, how the fire fed from the air and the plant-life fed from the water. To these four people the world was interconnected through bonds previously unknown to man.

Their curiosity overwhelming, fueled by the pull of the magic current around them, each of them left the tribe, whether in search of knowledge or banishment. Nearly a decade later, with no news about the four, another group of spiritually guided were brought into the world, this time however only twins who were torn from their dying mother and miraculously survived birth. Before even their adulthood the two felt the same strong connection with everything around them, even to the extent of people. They could feel when a man was dying of old age, or if a storm was brewing. Given the title of Oracles, the Warchief of the northern tribe sought to use them to take over the lands of the other tribes, expanding his reach across the continent. His plans were only foiled when four mysterious strangers appeared in the clan's biggest village seeking an audience with the Oracles. After being denied twice, in two visits, on the third they displayed a great array of magical talent. One weaving the wind around in great gusts, the other throwing mighty fireballs into the sky. The third grew a seed into a beautiful flower within seconds, and the last transformed the waters of the well into a magnificent ice sculpture, representing the Warchief himself. The Warchief was so overwhelmed by the potential of these four that he granted them an audience with the Oracles, in exchange for their knowledge.

Gladly the four mages accepted and taught the clan their ways, explaining that nearly every human would find it possible to use this protraction, by drawing on the energy of their surroundings. After their meeting with the Oracles they departed to share their knowledge with the other clans, stating that it would bring great imbalance to the world should only one of the four clans posses such power.

Soon across all of the land, the tribes and clans practiced their magic, day in and day out, seeking new boundaries and limits to all of its potential. Protraction became the ultimate tool with near limitless use, in all ways imaginable.

The Four would be remembered throughout all of the ages as the Four Archmages of Protraction.

    4. Reunion of a Kingdom

With new power in hand and the advancement of magic throughout the continent the tribes, villages, and clans sought to pursue their own goals. Protraction made it easy to forge tools and change the landscape and enabled every person capable of learning it to survive by themselves in some of the harshest conditions. Villages turned into Cities, and the smaller populations over the course of the years grew in large numbers. But there were plenty enough who saw Protraction for it's real potential. As a weapon of war and a means of power. Over time the major tribes had split apart, warring not only with each other but themselves. Every member of every clan or house seeking power, through any means justifiable. This conflict lasted for a couple of generations, and a bit further.

Enzo Leonne was born into this conflict by a mother banished from her clan for a romance with a man from another clan. She died giving birth and her husband took the child in, where it was constantly hated and degraded based on his heritage. The only reason he was not outright banished was due to his fathers high status in the clan, and so Enzo grew up the black sheep of the village he lived in.

The Kingdom would enjoy many generations of peace and stability under the Leonne family.

Enzo had grown up with strong political views and had often been the cause of many debates and fights among families, officials, and warring clans. Once grown he had joined his clan's army, where he proved to be a tactical genius, winning many battles despite his hatred for war. He quickly scaled the ranks and eventually was given his own company which was to win further more battles, undefeated.

One fateful day, Enzo had been outwitted and was ambushed by one of the enemies army, when crossing through a pass in the north. Supplies were scarce and he was desperate to get to the nearest city. During battle he was gravely wounded and his company was almost entirely wiped out. Being one of the few scattered survivors he fled further into the mountains where he eventually took refuge inside of a cave and fainted from blood loss.

In his dreams he had a vision. A vision of a bright sky over a golden kingdom, with no wars and no battles. Peace and order ruled under one man who held the reigns of the world in his hands.
After he had awoken in the cold ice cave the vision stayed forever in his left eye, which was now blind and frozen from the cold. Through sheer luck or the help of the gods, he found his way out of the mountains and to a village where he was treated and taken care of. Still half blind, he spent all his belongings on a good horse and some rations and began the great trip home.

He was received well and with open arms where he relayed his vision to the Warlord, telling him that it would be the warlords honor and duty to rule the continent as king and unite the clans and tribes.

Being too good an idea to resist, the warlord granted Enzo the highest of authorities, to lead an army to conquer the land.
Though Enzo still hated war, now more so than ever, conflicted he set out on his mission to claim the world for his Warlord. Opposed to battle, he would besiege city upon city in claims of peace, offering each of the other warlords and clan's leaders a respected position under the king to be. Some were easily persuaded, and others preferred to settle their fate on the battlefield.

A lifetime later he returned to the warlord, with most of the continent conquered and the promise he had given the other warlords. Spiteful like a snake and unwilling to share his new-found power, the warlord ordered Enzo and the other Warlords to be taken away and executed, and so it was.

Outraged and furious, the people of his new kingdom broke away from the Warlord, forming a resistance and fighting for their survival and eventually the warlord was brought to justice by none other but Enzo's bastard son, conceived in quiet behind closed doors and hidden away from the world. Enzo's son, henceforth known as Liam Leonne, Slayer of Corruption, was then acknowledged and crowned King, through the peoples desperation for a true and strong leader, and united the kingdom under one banner.

    5. The Fight against Evil

In the many following years since the kingdom was united civilization grew and flourished. Using their magic to build great kingdoms and set a stable economy in motion, all governed by the reign of kings to follow. Though a darkness grew and thrived in the undergrounds of Gaea.

Over the course of many generations, and presumably even before then, new and undiscovered creatures had been growing and festering in the underbelly of the realm. Beings potent of magic and with great and terrible powers. Demons, as they were called by humans, had been around since well before mankind returned. Supposedly imprisoned for uncounted generations they finally broke free to the surface and began roaming the land, attacking humans, and ravaging entire cities in great hordes.

What few thousand people the King's Knights had were at constant war with the demons. Their numbers slowly dwindling with each battle, and every now and again another city destroyed. Some humans even took to worshiping the demons, creating cults and clans to empower and serve them in hopes of survival.

A few years had gone by before the threat was fully realized by all of the humans in the Kingdom, and at this point the King was unable to fight against the Demons any longer, so he summoned every fighter, every Mercenary, and every man willing and able to stand against their demonic opposition, creating what would later become the military. There were many battles, and many casualties, though in time the humans proved resourceful, managing to outsmart the exponentially stronger foe from time to time.

To this day, demons are still around, though most are dormant and few in mass. Neither humans or demons are able to forget the everlasting conflict, though contact on both ends is kept to a minimum.

Still, there are those who would see some of the great demonlords revived and humanity destroyed, both Human and Demon.
