About the RP: What to do?

So it's come to my attention that some people are loosing interest or have lost interest in the RP for various reasons.

With dthvader, saint and blake leaving unannounced and a few other members vanished it's difficult to figure out where to go from here.
Our current inactive members are: Shoujiro, dthvader, Saint, Blake and Hawk. 

I haven't heard anything from Doc yet but I know that he's had a pretty rough time IRL that's kept him occupied. But I don't want to assume anything so I'm considering him as an active player Still. 

That leaves RD, Producer and Frazil, and potentially Doc.
I might be able to get 1 extra player soon-ish.
So here is my question to you; What do you want to do from here on out? 
Our options as I see it are as follows:

#1. Continue the game, with fewer members and just continue the story-arc as it's happening here.

#2. Skip ahead in the story and continue from there with either the same characters or new ones. With a summerization of the occurrences that happened in the past (So you don't miss out on the story.)

#3. Start a completely new and unrelated story arc , with either the same characters or different ones and basically start over the game. 

Note: With all 3 of these options I can promise a little bit less of a messy story-telling. As a lot of the more veteran players will know this is my first time hosting an english roleplay so the first year was a little messy. That being said I've been spending the last few months writing and re-writing and updating a lot of the info and trying to smooth the upcoming and alternate stories a little. I've put a lot more design into the upcoming content that you'll be sure to enjoy if it comes to that.

Lastly #4. 
We close the game for now and whoever is interested can take part in a new version of the game when I get done building it with new players and a new story in the future.


Give me your thoughts on each, or if you can think of some other way you'd rather approach this situation.

I'm going to be honest here. I'm having a -lot- of fun with the RP, but my life is SUPER stressful right now and while the game itself is a blast, actually coming in to post has started feeling like a chore. That's got nothing to do with you as GM, or with the players, it's just that I'm not on my computer for days at a time right now. As much as I enjoy playing, it's getting harder and harder for me to honorably commit.

If the game continues, I'll keep making the effort to play, but in my current state, I wouldn't mind a break and start over anew.

That said, I also have somewhat objective reasons for the above. Yuki, as a GM you've grown, a lot. You have a better concept of character balance, as well as story placement. This leads me to suggest new characters, as you can directly balance them with each other, without having to retcon, or worry about stepping on toes. The second reason I suggest new characters is this:

Right now the group is a rag tag batch of mercs with no real reason to stick together. As you already know, I would much rather play with a group that's designed together, with reason to work together. Each person having their own quest going and just happening to be in the same world is very confusing and not nearly as fun for me. I would rather the people that want to play, WANT to play, and the group be made as a collaboration, with it being less about each character being the star of their own show, and more about the group as a whole.

3-5 players seems ideal. The post rotation doesn't get bogged down and the game moves pretty swiftly. If we can then narrow down to trying to stick together, or at most 2 threads going at once, that'll make it even more streamlined. Of course all of this depends on what the other players consider fun. If they'd rather keep to the sideshow method, that works for them :D

I agree a lot with this and thank you for the kind words. From the first time I had clarent randomly abducted within 3 rotations to the instant boss-mode castle instance I've tried to take my time with my approach. Although it seems like right afterwards I was a little too slow to get things moving and focused too much on the set-up. I think i'm getting to the level where I have a decent balance between both and can more easily move the story along without jumping head-first into extreme situations.

I think making new characters in the future would be a good idea, and it would give me time to re-work some of the stuff especially regarding the rather clunky combat and poor explaination of enviroments, people and the lore.


I'd like to hear what everyone else things. So far it's 2 votes for ending the game and starting anew in the future with an updated build.

I would like to vote on #2. I would like to keep the character that i have made. I have put alot of time and thought into my man and would really hate to get rid of him.

That being said, as much as i like what is going on, it might be a good idea to start a new story arc.

Throwing my vote in for a fresh start, seems to be the popular choice, and I would like to start a new character with a new story. Plus with all the people leaving and rejoing and whatnot it might make for an easier and smoother experience for everyone.
